The Key Technical Issues of SOFC as a Power Source for Ship Application

  • Due to a list of advantages such as high efficiency,low noise and magnetic signature,Solid Oxide Fuel Cell(SOFC)as a power source has been regarded as one of the most competitive candidates for ship application.However,a number of technologies including solid oxide electrolyte membrane preparation,compression seal,catalyst and the bipolar plate preparation are still the key concerns to the ship designer.The paper gives a survey of advances in these technologies and presents various trends for the development.SOFC will be applied more widely on ship as these technologies become progressively capable and matured.
