Overview of application of model-based systems engineering in integration framework of total ship computing environment

  • The Total Ship Computing Environment(TSCE)is a representation of the software intensive complex weapons system and advanced technology of ship information system integration. It requires great changes to be made in the design patterns of ship systems, such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)instead of traditional document-centric system engineering. In this paper,MBSE related works are introduced first, then mappings are proposed between the design phases of TSCE integrating and DoDAF viewpoints or models according to the system engineering process V-model. Finally, some modeling specifications and standards are introduced, including System Modeling Language(SysML),Service-Oriented Architecture(SOA),XML Schema,Business Process Model and Notation(BPMN),Military Scenario Definition Language(MSDL),Coalition Battle Management Language(C-BML),etc. The formalized application of modeling will play key roles in supporting the construction of the TSCE integration framework.
