Multi-Objective Optimization Method for the Transverse Section of A Midship Based on Robustness

  • The relatively high quality and robustness are quite essential in the engineering robust optimization design. Therefore, in this paper, the robust optimization problem is converted into a two-objective optimization problem, with one objective being the optimization of solutions, and another being the robustness of solutions. The robust optimization design is implemented to the transverse section of a multi-purpose ship whose maximum stress is close to the allowable stress. Firstly, the approximate model of the hull cabin is constructed by using the method of Support Vector Machines (SVM) to obtain the maximum stress. Then, by combining with the idea of Monte Carlo integration, the function that represents the robustness of the maximum stress is constructed. Finally, aiming to minimize the maximum stress and the robustness function, the multi-objective optimization method is proposed to solve the robust optimization task. Optimization results not only demonstrate a reduction in the maximum stress of the hull structure, but also a great improvement in the robustness of the maximum stress, proving the feasibility of the presented method.
