  • With the development of ships in large size, the load that applied on band brakes is increasing than ever before. Therefore, research on the stress field of band brake is significant in the design of anchor systems. Based on the platform of MSC. Nastran, the linear static analysis of brake band operation at an instantaneous time is done, the distribution of mechanical stress field in brake band during weigh anchoring is discovered . At the same time, the stress values of some special points in the brake band are measured during test. Based on these results, the comprehensive analysis is carried out on the strength of brake band. Thus the conclusions can be obtained for further rational design of brake band.
