  • Interaction between tiller and draw bar in a vessel was studied. This interaction occurred was due to a small distance between rudder stock and draw bar. A small part of the tiller was cut off to form a plane to provide the half-type rudder with adequate ultimate strength under design load. The structural strength was then directly calculated and checked by finite element analysis.
