Analysis of Vortex Induced Vibration Fatigue Damage of Steel Catenary Riser

  • To analyze the yearly fatigue damage rate,a simplified vibration model was adopted taking into account the characteristics of steel catenary riser.A FE-model was established in CAE module of ANSYS software on the bas is of the catenary equation,and modal analysis was performed,the modal inputs regarding normalized mode shapes,slopes and curvatures obtained by post-processing.Vortex induced vibration analysis was carried out to calc ulate the yearly fatigue damage rate of the riser by entering the processed modal inputs into SHEAR7 software.The results show that the fatigue damage of the riser oscillates in the axes direction and the max fatigue d amage occurs on the riser's boundary area,the peak of fatigue damage upsurges as the current speed increase.
