Anti-vibration design method for 300 000 DWT FPSO engine room

  •   Objectives  Vibration is an important factor which influences the comfort level aboard ships. With the higher requirements from ship owners and stricter criteria, ship vibration control is receiving increasing attention.
Methods  This paper use the modal superposition method which is widely used in ship vibration analysis and anti-vibration design to carry out relevant research. First, analyzes the characteristics of the modal superposition method, then summarizes anti-vibration design methods by controlling the vibrational excitation output and staggering the excitation frequency and natural frequency. Finally, staggering the excitation frequency and natural frequency is applied as the anti vibration design method for the vibrational control of a 300 000 DWT floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.
Results  The results of the ship test show that after applying anti-vibration design method, the vibration response level of the 300 000 DWT FPSO meet the requirements of the ISO 20283-5 standard.
Conclusions  The research results of this paper have a certain reference value for the anti-vibration design of ships.
